Adam Shipley, Master Stylist & Salon Owner
Adam started working in a quaint family salon in North Carolina after graduating from cosmetology school in 2008 & then moved to Virginia Beach to grow his career. Adam focused on expanding his education thru Wella, Aveda, and Schwarzkopf color. While working in some of the top salons in the area, he always felt a calling to establish his own salon where fellow stylists would feel at home. At Ava Marie Salon of Creatives he has changed the established norm from client to hair experience.
Caitlyn Beeson, Master Stylist
Cait’s passion for hair started in high school at VB VoTech, where she first honed her skills before continuing her education at the Rudy & Kelly Paul Mitchell Academy. After graduating in 2010, she jumped straight behind the chair and quickly developed a strong foundation of color theory. Now she specializes in corrective color, blonding, and balayage. Cait regularly attends advanced education classes in cutting, extensions, and color techniques. Beyond the salon, she enjoys spending time at home with her husband and adorable dogs.(If you really want to get to know her, just ask about her pups!) For Cait, hairstyling is more than just hair-it’s about making people feel confident and beautiful. She takes pride in creating looks that not only enhances her clients’ natural beauty but also brings out their best selves!
Michael Samuel, Master Stylist
Samuel is a career stylist, adept in both cut and basic color! While specializing in cuts – he is a master stylist with all hair textures and lengths. In his pursuit of his professional career, Samuel has worked in legendary salons with worldwide reputation including Paul Mitchell and TONI&GUY. These outstanding experiences have allowed for advanced educational opportunities – guiding his creativity, grasping new methods and knowledge of trends. Samuel is a customer service expert with an attentive ear and views his work as a form of art.

Lauren Lewis, Premium Stylist
Lauren started her hair journey at Norfolk Technical Center and got to apprentice under our talented salon owner, Adam Shipley. She has been a part of this salon family for two years now and absolutely loves helping people express themselves through their hair. While her clients know her for her signature bangs and all the layers, she also has a passion for helping clients find a cut and color that enhances their beauty within, whether that’s a natural tone or a luxurious vivid! Ensuring clients feel heard is her favorite and most important part of the job. When not behind the chair, you’ll usually find Lauren skating, drawing, or volunteering with wildlife.

Dawn Hamerick, Master Stylist
Dawn fell in love with hair at 10 years old as she watched her mom move from salon assistant to hairstylist. She enjoys doing everything from nails and waxing or anything the salon industry embraces. She specializes in cutting, perms, all types of color (including corrective color). She honed her skills in make up and special event styling at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, VA before she moved to Virginia Beach. Her goal is to create a look unique to the client.
In her off time, you can find Dawn relaxing with her 3 cats, watching old movies, doing yoga or even ballroom dancing.

Janice Myers, Manager
Janice received her cosmetology license in 1989. She
is also a former National Educator for Paul Mitchell with an Associate Degree in Business Management.
